Hendrik and Ant and dog Shrewsbury vets

Vacancy: Small Animal Vet

We are a growing, independent Small Animal practice in the beautiful market town of Shrewsbury, Shropshire. Find us on Google Maps “The Animal Health Centre Shrewsbury” and click on the “see inside” photo link to have a full tour behind the scenes.

Our team: You will be the third Vet, working alongside Hendrik (CertVC) and Erika. In addition, you will regularly encounter our internal orthopaedic referral clinician, Rory (BVSc Cert AVP). Our friendly team of highly-qualified nurses and non-clinical support staff are there to assist and support you.

The role is for someone available to work either two or three days per week and to work a 1:3 Rota on Saturday mornings  (8:30AM to 1:00PM).

The Practice offers you:

  • Airy and spacious facilities, professionally designed to ensure a smooth work flow and relaxing environment for both humans and pets.
  • A well-organised and well-equipped working environment
  • Clients (most insured) who champion our high quality work-ups, excellent facilities and individual care
  • Excellent CPD funding with encouragement to develop an area of special interest.
  • Above-average salary commensurate with experience & relocation support if applicable
  • Large, two-bedroom apartment on-site can be included in salary package if desired
  • OOH Emergencies are covered by a separate centralised emergency practice.

The Practice and its location:  We are situated within easy walking distance of the bustling town centre, recently voted one of England’s top four happiest towns.

The pleasant 20 minute walk to the town centre takes you past some award-winning schools, the local Nuffield Hospital and through the Kingsland Valley, a protected urban nature reserve.

Shrewsbury has a lively river life – park cafes & gastro-pubs intermingled with rowing clubs, acres of beautiful parkland, and a riverside theatre. The town centre has a fab arthouse cinema, a University and lively restaurant scene. Excellent sports facilities within five minutes walking distance of the Practice. Shrewsbury is no sleepy backwater but a vibrant county town punching well above its weight in terms of access to all aspects of cultural life.

Shrewsbury is well connected to key motorways and has direct rail links (1 hour) to Birmingham International Airport and England’s “second cities” Birmingham and Manchester.

Find out more: If you are looking for a challenging yet well-supported role within a busy but calmly organised, high spec. practice, send your CV to Rebecca@animalhealthvets.co.uk. We look forward to hearing from you.
