About the Animal health Centre

We are a family-run Vet Practice, dedicated to providing you and your pets with outstanding veterinary advice and care.

We offer a personal and friendly service with excellent diagnostic equipment and a clinical team with a wealth of knowledge and expertise.

When we are not open, we provide an out of hours service for emergencies. The Vets Now Clinic is in Hadley near Wellington and their telephone number is 01952 253 963.

Hendrik set up The Animal Health Centre with his wife Rebecca in 2010 having worked as a Veterinarian since he qualified in 1995. 

Hendrik is a “GP” Vet with a special interest in Veterinary Dentistry and an advanced qualification in Cardiology. He regularly sees pets with heart problems referred to him by other vets. 

In his spare time, Hendrik likes to play the guitar, read literature and philosophy, spend time with his wife and children and stay fit walking Johnny, the family Golden Retriever, in the amazing Shropshire Hills.

Erika joined The Animal Health Centre in 2020 having already gained 15 years of experience working as a Veterinary Surgeon in and around Mid-Wales since 2005. 

Erika is interested in all aspects of Veterinary Medicine and is also an experienced dental surgeon. She has a special interest in behaviour and in helping pet owners with nervous dogs or cats to make a visit to the vet more calm and easier.

Outside of work, Erika’s time is spent looking after her two children, renovating her house, cycling and canoeing.

RCVS recognised orthopaedic and soft tissue veterinary surgeon Rory

Rory is our visiting RCVS recognised orthopaedic and soft tissue veterinary surgeon, he performs advanced surgical procedures in house alongside our nursing team to save patients being referred further afield.

Dr Hannah Dowson
BVSc MRCVS

Hannah joined the Animal Health Centre in 2025. Since graduating in 2015, she has worked in a traditional mixed practice in North Wales, and a busy small animal hospital in Exeter.

Hannah enjoys all aspects of first opinion work, in particular canine and feline medicine.

When not at work, Hannah is kept busy by two young children, an excitable cocker spaniel called Agnes and Solly the cat.

Rebecca

Rebecca set up the Animal Health Centre with her husband Hendrik in 2010. Rebecca is our Practice Manager and oversees all non-clinical matters including our popular Animal Health Club.

Ant RVN

Ant is an experienced registered veterinary nurse. He has worked in both general practice and referral hospital settings where he has cared for an array of complex cases.

Ant manages the practice alongside Rebecca and helps support the nursing team. Ant has a BSc (hons) degree in animal behaviour and training.
